Workshop held for women legislators

Bureau Report

PESHAWAR, Dec 14: Speakers at a training workshop for the women legislators have underlined the need for upholding the supremacy of Constitution and opposing all such measures which distort the very spirit of it.

The event was organised by the Aurat Foundation here at a local hotel on Saturday to apprise the women legislators about the rules of business in the assemblies.

Three MNAs and 12 MPAs from five political parties— Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal, Awami National Party, People’s Party Parliamentarians, PPP-S and PML-Q — attended the workshop.

A PPP leader and former NWFP speaker, Barrister Masood Kausar, informed the legislators about the procedure and rules of business in the House. He also answered questions raised by the women MNAs and MPAs.

A former secretary of the NWFP Assembly, Tanzeemul Haq Aleemi, dwelt upon the rights of members and legal position of motions in the assembly.
