Over 20,000 appear for 1,396 posts of ASIs

FAISALABAD, Dec 14: Over 20,000 candidates appeared in the written examination for 1,396 posts of the assistant sub-inspectors of police throughout the province on Saturday.

The Punjab Public Service Commission had received thousands of applications for these posts and after scrutiny, cleared around 20,000 for written examination.

The written examinations were conducted by the PPSC with the assistance of the Punjab police and the education department at Faisalabad, Sargodha, Lahore, Multan, Bahawalpur, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala and Sialkot police ranges.

In Faisalabad, as many as 1,910 candidates took the examination at the University of Agriculture. A PPSC member, the district police officer, superintendent of police (headquarter) and education department officers supervized the examination.

The minimum qualification for the posts was intermediate, but according to sources, 80 per cent of the applicants had post-graduation degree in subjects like computer science, business administration, public administration.
