PESHAWAR: Minister justifies ban on govt jobs

Bureau Report

PESHAWAR, Dec 14: The NWFP Minister for Science, Technology and Information Technology, Hussain Ahmad Kanju, has said that the ban on recruitment, transfers and postings in government departments in the province was meant to reform and clear the system and ensure merit. He added that proper persons would be given their due rights.

This he said while talking to a 30-member representative delegation of Tanzeem Asatiza Pakistan, NWFP, led by its provincial president Obaidur Rahman here on Saturday.

The delegation, besides Khairullah Haroon, Dr Izharul Haq and Fazle Aziz, also included the districts and agency presidents and secretaries of the Tanzeem.

Members of the delegation apprised the minister about their problems and their reservations on the University Ordinance, contract service, promotion policy and shortage of science teachers and equipments in schools.

They also demanded the review of leave, GP Fund rules and allowances.

Mr Kanju said that all the elected MPs of the MMA belonged to the middle class and they knew well the problems of the government servants, particularly the low paid employees.
