KARACHI: Muzaffar slams PPP, MMA MPAs

KARACHI, Dec 14: Syed Muzaffar Hussain Shah, before being elected speaker of the Sindh assembly, deplored the attitude of MMA and PPP MPAs in the house on Saturday, after the chairman of the session, former acting speaker Syed Jalal Mahmood Shah, had adjourned the house to meet again at 12 noon.

Talking to APP soon after the incident (before his election as speaker), he said there were better ways of showing dissent and differences.

Syed Muzaffar Hussain Shah said that the PPP had raised the same objections yesterday, and after hearing all the parties concerned the chairman had passed an order.

“When the chairman passes an order, it is either against you or in your favour, it cannot satisfy everybody. If a party feels an order has been passed in violation of the law, the appropriate way is to approach the courts,” he said.

Ms Raheela Tiwana, who was later elected deputy speaker, said that the PPP and the MMA MPAs displayed the attitude of a ‘Qabza group’ in the house on Saturday.

“They are trying to avoid the process of election, but we ask them to follow the democratic procedure and avoid using negative tactics.

on Friday also these MPAs exhibited inappropriate behaviour. They did not allow me to come in and snatched forms from me. This is too much,” Raheela said.—APP
