One dies, five hurt in clash

SAHIWAL, Dec 13: A villager lost his life while five others sustained bullet wounds on Friday in an armed clash between two rival groups in Chak 51-GD.

Muhammad Latif and Shaukat had a dispute over a piece of land. On Friday, Shaukat along with his accomplice came to take the possession of the land which resulted in an exchange of fire between the rival groups. After one-hour of shootout, Ashraf died on the spot while Shaukat Ali and his sister Shakeela, Latif, Siddique and Saleeman Bibi sustained serious injuries. The injured were rushed to a local hospital where Siddique, Saleeman Bibi and Shakeela were stated to be in serious condition.

ARRESTED: Civil Lines police on Friday arrested MSF (Q) district president and his two accomplices for allegedly kidnapping a man and his son from district courts on Dec 11 last.

Saqlain Jat and his accomplices Arsalan and Nauman had kidnapped Soofi Mushtaq and his son Shahid who were got released by the people present at district courts. The accused had also looted the roadside hotel of Mushtaq on April 17, 2000.

FALL UNCONSCIOUS: Four passengers of Allama Iqbal Express (Up train) were found unconscious on Friday at the local railway station.

Railway police had them admitted to the local DHQ Hospital. Those fell unconscious are: Baba Raheem of Narowal, Zakirullah and Obaidullah of Peshawar and Naveed of Sahiwal.

It was learnt that they were served toxic juices after which they fainted. The miscreants also took away cash and valuables.
