KARACHI, Dec 12: Two ships carrying containers are expected to arrive at the outer anchorage on Friday, according to KPT sources.

Berthing activity at the wharves was relatively slow where three ships, Global Progress, Al-Wajba, to unload and load containers and Banglar Mamata to offload general cargo were berthed after the departure of five.

The ships, which departed included Kota Teguh, APL Costa Rica, Global Progress, Johar and Botany Triton, while APsheron, Iran Ghaffari, Al-Wajba and Good Hope are due to sail out on Friday.

Owing to slow arrivals, berth occupancy fell to 33 and 46 per cent both at the oil piers and the dry wharves, respectively.

Cargo handling activity at the wharves was modest where a total tonnage of 50,633 tons comprising 22,732 tons of export cargo, including 1,722 tons of rice and 27,901 tons of import tonnage was handled.

The following ships are due on Friday: E.O.S.I and Hyundai Bridge, with containers.
