Mushtaq to lead bankers

KARACHI, Dec 11: Discarded Test leg-spinner Mushtaq Ahmed will lead an 18-member National Bank (NBP) squad in the Quaid-i-Azam Cricket Trophy Championship which starts from Dec 21.

The squad was named Wednesday by NBP Sports Incharge and former Test slow left-armer, Iqbal Qasim.

Pakistan captain Waqar Younis, vice-captain Inzamam-ul-Haq, fast bowler Mohammad Sami and wicket-keeper Kamran Akmal will be included whenever available for selection.

However they were not named in the list of 18 players.

Squad: Mushtaq Ahmed (captain), Imran Nazir, Naumanullah, Qasier Abbas, Akhtar Sarfraz, Shabbir Ahmed, Mohammad Javed, Imran Javed, Naeem Tayyab, Naeem Khan, Naeem Ahmed, Shahid Anwar, Sajid Ali, Aleem Moosa, Aurangzeb and Hanif-ur-Rehman.

Mohammad Jamil and Saeed Azad will be the manager and coach of the team respectively.

NBP are drawn in Group I with Sargodha, Wapda, Servis Industries, Lahore Blues and Faisalabad.

NBP will take on Sargodha in their opening four-day league tie at Sports Stadium Sargodha.—APP
