NICFC’s ex-MD indicted

Published December 12, 2002

LAHORE, Dec 11: An accountability court on Wednesday indicted Chaudhry Abdul Majid, the former managing director of the NICFC, in the sixth reference against him.

It is alleged in this reference that in his capacity as the managing director of the NICFC, Chaudhry Majid had advanced a clean loan to PML leader Azizul Haq Qureshi and failed to pledge tangible assets and collaterals for extending a loan which, added with markup, now stood at Rs71.86 million.

Interestingly, Azizul Haq had bargained with NAB to pay a total amount of Rs 27.6 million. Out of it, he paid Rs12 million and pledged to pay the rest in four instalments. He was released on Dec 2.

Chaudhry Majid has already been convicted in three references either as principal or co-accused. He is also facing another three references.—APP
