KARACHI, Dec 11: Three men died in road accidents in the city on Wednesday.
A teenager died when he was pushed out of a moving passenger bus by the bus conductor near Sohrab goth in the early morning.
Police said that Saleem Jan, aged 17, had an argument with the conductor of the bus. During the quarrel, the conductor pushed Saleem out of the moving bus. He came under the rear wheels of the bus and was badly injured. He was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.
Saleem was resident of Sadiqabad, and he had come to Karachi, for the first time, in search of a job.
The bus driver drove off after the accident.
A motorcyclist died and his pillion-rider was injured in a road accident at Numaish Chowrangi.
Police said that Syed Mohammed Jehanzeb and Ziaul Haq were travelling on the motorcycle (FDN-2108), and they were knocked down by a speeding passenger bus of route 4-J (JA-8584).
The accident victims were rushed to Civil Hospital, where doctors pronounced Jehanzeb dead on arrival. Zia was admitted to the hospital.
The bus driver escaped after the accident. Police, however, impounded the vehicle.
An unidentified man, who was in his mid-40s, was knocked down by a speeding vehicle in Defence early Wednesday.
Police said that the man was run over by an unknown vehicle while walking across a road. He died on the spot.
The body was sent to Jinnah Post-graduate Medical Centre for post-mortem.
DIES OF BURNS: A man who had suffered burns in Thatta died in the burns ward at Civil Hospital on Wednesday.
Sources at the hospital said that Farooq Baloch was brought to the hospital on Monday.
His relations brought his body outside Karachi Press Club where they told newsmen that Farooq suffered burns in police custody at Thatta.
They alleged that Farooq, an electrician, was picked by the Thatta police on Eid day.
Police officials set him on fire, his relations alleged.
