KARACHI: Retired official to head BIE

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Dec 11: The governor of Sindh, who is also the controlling authority of the educational boards, has appointed yet another retired college principal as chairman of the Board of Intermediate Education, Karachi.

According to official sources, Prof Syed Iftikhar H. Zaidi, who was retired from government service as director of colleges, (Karachi region), about two years ago, is being called to replace Prof Mohammad Sharif Memon. The new chairman would assume his office on Dec 16.

With the induction of Prof Iftikhar, the number of retired persons to assume the charge of educational boards’ chairmen would reached to three.

The post of chairman in an educational board is a three-year job, which, under the board’s rules, requires to be filled by active servicemen called on deputation, said a source in the educational circle, adding that in the past posts of chairman, secretary and controller of examinations were filled by in-service senior teachers belonging to the education department.
