KARACHI, Dec 10: Masud Saleem and Shahin Iqbal clinched the Super Bowl-X bridge championship at Aslam Memorial Bridge Hall, says a press release of Pakistan Bridge Federation issued Tuesday.
Playing from North-South section Masud-Shahin pair mustered 67.27 percent to take the title. M.A.Ansari and Nasir Reza finished second with 57.36% followed by Mohsin Chandna and Ashraf Ghurfran 54.91%, who secured third spot.
Mubashir Puri-Nasim Arzoo came first from East-West direction by accumulating 65.68 percent. Mushahid Siddiqui- A. K. Bhurgri was second with 58 percent and Lutufullah and Khalid Zaki with 57.80% were third.
In the meantime alteast six Karachi teams are due to leave for Lahore in day or two to take part in the Bliji National Bridge being held from Dec 13.
Prominent team to feature in the competition are Allana comprising Rashid Jafer, Sultana Siddiqui, Rashid-ul-Ghazi, Mohsin Chandna and Tarir Rashid.
Candyland which defend its title included Mohiudedin brothers, Ziaullah Baig, Hasan Askri and Muhammad Ismail.
Solex is considered dark horse with Pervaiz Mirza, Gulzar Bilal, Sarfraz Khan and Imran Jaka in the line-up. If Giants decide to contest, it will be another live candidate. Free Bidders, Attackers and Friends are also planning to compete.
Azwar-ul-Haq, S.M.Ozair, Saleem Ahmed and Shakeel Chandna have formed attackers.
Chaudhry Sharif, Cdr (redt) Sami, Afzal Shaikh and Matin Khan will represent Free Bidders. Asghar Abbas, Javed Rehman, farhat Khan and Muhammad Zubair will be playing for Friends. A full ladies team from will also feature in the championship. Ladies team comprise PBF President Rehana Saigol, Mrs Samia Rashid, Mrs Zeenat Azwar and Mrs Qudusia Dossa.—APP
