MINGORA, Dec 10: A number of the provincial assembly members have asked the chief minister to restore the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) here, otherwise, they will withdraw their support to him in the assembly, and start observing hunger-strike in front of the assembly from Dec 20.

An All Parties Conference was held here at the Jirga Hall on Tuesday, which was addressed by MNAs Qari Abdul Bais, Maulana Fazal Subhan, Sher Akber Khan and Engineer Amir Muqam, MPAs Mohammad Ameen, Haji Jamshid Khan, Peer Mohammad Khan, Maulana Nizamuddin, Mufti Hussain Ahmad and Malik Ameerzada Khan.

Leaders of various political parties, including the Jamaat-i-Islami the Pakistan People’s Party (Sherpao), the Awami National Party (ANP), the People’s Party Parliamentarian (PPP), Pakhtoonkhwa Qaumi Party (PQP), general secretary Swat Bar Association, president and general secretary of the action committee and Swat district Nazim, were among those who attended the meeting.

The speakers condemned the decision of the governor by shifting the board from Swat to Chakdara, Dir, and asked for the restoration of the board in Swat forthwith.

The members of the assembly threatened that if the board was not restored immediately they would stop their support to the provincial government in retaliation, and call for boycott of all the forthcoming examinations.

MPA Mohammad Ameen said if the board was not restored by Dec 15 he would start observing hunger-strike in front of the assembly.

The transports said they would observe wheeljam strike if their demand was not met.

Later, it was decided that a joint committee, led by MNA Qari Abdul Bais, would meet the chief minister and other concerned authorities to convince them to restore the board to Swat.

The district Nazim said he was bound to work under the governor and could not do anything against his will. He narrated a detailed story about the shifting of the board and termed it a wrong step on the part of the governor.
