GUJRANWALA, Dec 10: A cheat has deprived five unemployed youth of thousands of rupees and gave them fake letters of appointment as junior clerk in the Gujranwala Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education.

The fraud came to surface when the youth reported to the BISE chairman to join their duties on Tuesday.

They told the chairman that the man took thousands of rupees from them and issued them the appointment letters.

Meanwhile, the BISE chairman clarified that there was no post of junior clerk lying vacant and he did not issue any appointment letter.

Four injured: Four people were shot at and injured in a clash over a money dispute in the People’s Colony on Tuesday.

Umar Goraya and Tahir groups of Haideri Road have a monetary dispute. The Umar groups opened fire on their rival groups after an exchange of hot words as a result of which Tahir and his brother Tariq sustained injuries. Umar, the brother of Naib Nazim Obaidullah Goraya and his accomplice Rafiq also sustained bullet injuries when the rivals returned the fire.

They were taken to DHQ Hospital where they began to quarrel and damaged equipment. The hospital administration informed the police which reached the spot handcuffed them.

Later, a case was registered against both the groups.

LAND DISPUTE: A landlord was shot at and injured by his rivals in Naushera Virkan over a land dispute.

Muhammad Bakhsh was working in his fields when accused Aslam, Anwar and Rashid, etc., came there. They opened fire on him after an exchange of hot words and fled from the scene.

SUSPENDED: Fourteen sanitary workers of Kamoki tehsil were suspended from service by Nazim on the charge of absence from duty during his surprise visit on Tuesday.

He issued them show cause notices and warned sanitary inspectors to ensure the attendance of sanitary workers in future.

LOOTED: Passengers of a bus were looted by four armed men in Chak Nizam here on Tuesday.

Four dacoits who were travelling in the guise of passengers whipped out their pistols and snatched cash, jewellery and wristwatches from commuters.
