POs escape after 10-hour shootout

GUJRAT, Dec 10: Some proclaimed offenders escaped from Shah Sarmast, Lalamusa, on Monday night following an encounter with the area police.

Reportedly, Lalamusa Sadar police, on a tip off that some notorious proclaimed offenders were present at the outhouse of Ghulam Ali, encircled the locality.

After seeing police, the outlaws opened fire which was returned. After a 10-hour crossfire, the wanted men managed their escape.

A police source told Dawn that among the absconders was a murder accused.

MURDER: Three outlaws shot dead a married woman over a matrimonial dispute in Morra locality of Serai Alamgir on Tuesday.

Reportedly, Imran, Karam Dad and Ejaz opened fire at Najma Kausar and escaped. She died on the spot. One of the accused wanted to marry Najma, police said. Serai Alamgir police station has registered a case with no arrest.

ACCIDENT: Two Jamaat-i-Islami activists died on Monday when their motorcycle was knocked down by a speeding coaster on GT Road near Julliani.

Sagheer Ahmad and Yamin Ansari were on their way home when the accident took place. They sustained critical wounds and were taken to the DHQ hospital where they died.

Driver Fiaz of the coaster was caught on the spot by the area people.
