Hamid and Murtaza on target

LAHORE, Dec 9: Two matches were decided in the December Cup polo tournament, on Monday.

Three goals by Hamid Ali and two by Agha Murtaza enabled Avtex Media to beat Texcon Research 6-5 1/2.

Texcon led the match till end of the third chukker 5 1/2-4. But Murtaza and Hamid slammed a goal each in the fourth chukker to turn the tables over their rivals.

Avtex, by scoring three goals finished Texcon’s 2 1/2 goals lead on handicap by the end of the first chukker. Hamid scored two while Hussain Iftikhar one.

Avtex again took control in the second chukker scoring two goals through Col Talha and Azam Hayat Noon.

In the third chukker, Murtaza struck a goal for Avtex but soon Col Talha slammed his second to keep Texcon ahead till the final chukker.

Five goals by Usman Hai helped Sindh Horse trounce Guard Rice 10-1 1/2.

Sindh Horse started the match at a very fast pace as it scored six goals without conceding any, by the end of the second chukker. They added four more goals in the remaining two chukkers. Besides Usman, the other scorers for the winners were Faraz Rahim and Captain Malik who scored two goals each. Arslan Najeeb added a goal.

Guard Rice who had a half goal on handicap scored their solitary goal in the third chukker through Hissam Ali Hyder.
