Robbers kill ex-naval officer

LAHORE, Dec 5: Robbers killed a former naval officer, injured his wife and a daughter in Defence on Thursday.

Police said that three robbers barged into the house of Lt-Commander Muhammad Ashraf (retired), in N block. They stabbed and injured Ashraf on resistance. They also injured his wife Mumtaz and daughter Khalida when they came to rescue him. The robbers escaped with 15 tolas of gold.

They were shifted to a nearby hospital where Ashraf succumbed to his injuries while the condition of Mumtaz and Khalida was stated to be stable.

Ashraf’s three sons live abroad.

The body was sent to the city mortuary for autopsy. A case has been registered against the unidentified men on the complaint of Ashraf’s son-in-law Sohail.

The police claimed to have arrested four suspects, including three Bangladeshi nationals.

MURDERED: Three people were murdered in different parts of the city on Thursday.

Ijaz told police that some unidentified men forced their entry into his Kahna house. His wife Rashida Bibi, 40, was alone at the house and the intruders opened fire, killing her on the spot.

Ijaz said he married Rashida three months ago after the death of her husband Sher Ali. He said her family was not happy on their marriage and suspected that a relative might have killed her.

Rashida Bibi has left behind seven children. Police claimed to have arrested her cousin, Farzand, on the charge of murder.

Some unidentified men entered in a flour mill, owned by Haji Nazir, 60, in Shahdara. They hit him with some blunt weapons, killing him on the spot.

The motive behind the killing could not be ascertained yet. The body was sent to the city mortuary for autopsy. A case was registered on the complaint of Nazir’s son.

A contractor was reportedly strangled in Allama Iqbal Town.

Imran Ali told police that his father Aslam, 60, contracted a second marriage with Ayesha a few months ago. She often had quarrels with him over the possession of a house. Ayesha left the house a couple of weeks ago over the issue.

He suspected that Ayesha might have hired some professionals to kill Aslam.

The body was sent to the city mortuary for autopsy.

Meanwhile, a milkman who sustained bullet injuries a couple of days ago in Shahdara died in the Mayo Hospital. Police claimed that Sadiq, 40, was killed over a money dispute.

ACCIDENT: A man was killed in an accident in Chuhng on Thursday.

Police said Muhammad Arshad, 35, was crossing the road when a rashly-driven wagon hit him. He died on the spot.
