Ransom paid for exporter’s release

SIALKOT, Dec 5: A surgical goods exporter kidnapped 10 days ago returned home safely, family said on Thursday.

Talking to newsmen here, family members said they secured the release of Haji Muhammad Latif after payment of Rs8 million ransom.

Four armed men had intercepted the car of Haji Latif on Sialkot-Eminabad Road on Nov 26. The interceptors threw his driver in fields and took away the exporter in his car.

Later, the kidnappers demanded Rs10 million for his release. After negotiations with the kidnappers, the family paid Rs8 million for Haji Latif’s release.

Meanwhile, four armed men kidnapped the daughter-in-law of a landlord of Kot Dhiyaani village of Daska tehsil.

The kidnappers have demanded Rs1 million ransom for her release.

Daska police registered a case with no arrest.
