Nation asked to share joy with poor

ISLAMABAD, Dec 5: President Gen Pervez Musharraf has felicitated the nation on Eidul Fitr and expressed the hope that the affinity, sincerity and honesty would help Pakistanis defeat their social problems.

“It gives me an immense pleasure to speak to you on the occasion of Eidul Fitr. Please, accept my heartiest greetings to you all,” the president said in an Eid message to the nation.

By the grace of Almighty Allah, he said, we had observed Ramazan under the light of Islamic teachings and with the divine virtues of patience, obedience and the fear of Allah.

The president asked the people to keep in mind the tradition, discipline and objective of the Eid day which, he said, required us to share our joy and happiness with the poor, destitute, orphans and widows to enable them celebrate this day in a befitting manner.

President Musharraf expressed the hope that with love and sincerity,”we will be able to overcome the numerous problems facing our society”.

“Let us pray on this day to Almighty Allah to grant us strength to fight all evils and guide us on the right path so that we may benefit from all his blessings and bounties and put the country on road to progress and prosperity,” the president added.

PRIME MINISTER’S MESSAGE: Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali on Eid has asked the people to help government make Pakistan a true Islamic welfare state.

He assured that the democratic government would take every step to safeguard country’s ideology and its objectives.

“I am fully confident that through sheer hard work and honesty, we would be able to surmount problems facing the society,” he said in a message to the nation.

The premier expressed the hope that “the people will supplement efforts of the government to purify the society and put the country on to the road of progress and prosperity.”

He said: “It is a matter of great pleasure for me to deliver my first message of the Eid greetings as an elected prime minister. I congratulate all Muslims, particularly the people of Pakistan, and pray to Almighty Allah to mould our lives under His blessings.”

The prime minister said: “The day is a time for rejoicing and mutual happiness for all and to thank the Almighty for the blessings bestowed upon us.

“We must take care of the poor, oppressed and orphans. These is equivalent to a moral Jihad. Lets be part of this Jihad and rid the country of poverty, helplessness, hatred, enmity, terrorism and other social vices and share the joys of Eid with our poor sisters and brothers and the needy.”—APP
