US president sends greetings


ISLAMABAD, Dec 5: President George Bush of United States has said the Americans fully share the traditional Islamic values of peace, tolerance, justice, and hope celebrated on the occasion of Eidul Fitr.

He said this in a message sent to President Gen Pervez Musharraf on Eid being celebrated on Friday.

“We support your vision of a tolerant, free, and peaceful Pakistan that embodies these shared values,” Bush said.

He said: “I look forward to working with you and with Pakistan’s new government to continue strengthening the ties between our countries.”

President Bush said on behalf of the American people, he extends the warmest wishes to President Musharraf and to the people of Pakistan on Eid.

“I wish you and the people of Pakistan a joyous and blessed holiday,” he added.

Message to Jamali: In a separate letter to the recently elected Prime Minister Zafarullah Jamali, the US president wished Pakistan “every success in achieving progress toward democracy and economic prosperity.”

“Let me also take this opportunity to wish you and all Pakistanis a blessed Eidul-Fitr,” APP quoted Bush’s letter as saying.
