HYDERABAD: STPP opposes Muttahida’s chief minister

Bureau Report

HYDERABAD, Dec 5: The chairman, Sindh Taraqqi Passand Party, Dr Qadir Magsi, has warned that over 40 million Sindhis would not allow anyone to play with the destiny of Sindh and would resist all the forces who tried to take away the sovereignty of Sindh from the hands of Sindhi people.

Strongly reacting to the move of the federal government to hand over the chief ministership of Sindh to the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, Dr Magsi, who is also the president of the Pakistan Oppressed Nations Movement, Sindh Chapter, in a statement issued on Thursday, said that the people of Sindh would under no circumstances allow anyone to tamper with its inherent right of sovereignty.

He said that the post of the chief minister of Sindh had nothing to do with any agreement that may be signed by the government because it was an extremely sensitive issue as it related to the right of sovereignty, which exclusively belonged to the people of Sindh.

He said at least on this issue the patriotic people of Sindh will not accept any compromise or bargain.

Mr Magsi said that during the last 55 years the rights of the people of Sindh had been continuously violated, and added that these violations must stop forthwith.

He said that if the federal government could not place any balm in “our gaping wounds, it should not inflict any fresh wounds”.

He cautioned Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali and his allies in Sindh not to commit any further theft on the rights of the Sindhi people as it would prove costly. He said the chief ministership of Sindh can not be made a part of the numbers game nor was it open for sale.

Mr Magsi said that those who had secured less than 10 per cent of the votes in the general elections and had been totally rejected by the people of interior Sindh could not be handed over power and allowed to decide the fate of the Sindhi people.
