Two dacoits killed in shootout

VEHARI, Dec 4: Two dacoits were killed while a sub-inspector and a constable were injured in a shootout at Karampur area on Wednesday morning.

According to details, the dacoits held up landlord Allah Diwaya and took away his tractor on Tuesday night.

The landlord informed the area police who rang up their colleagues in Mailsi, Vehari and Karampur. The dacoits were traced at Chak No 65 WB who opened fire on seeing the police.

The police retaliated and the cross fire continued for sometime. As a result, two dacoits died while SI Muhammad Akram and Constable Javed Husain were injured.

The dacoits were identified as Mukhtar alias Mukha and Ghulam Muhammad alias Gaman Kundan.

The condition of the injured policemen was stated to bestable at the Vehari DHQ Hospital.

Police claimed that the killed dacoits belonged to the Riaz Rath gang and had been operating in the district for the last two year. They were involved in dozens of dacoity, kidnapping, theft, and murder cases and wanted by different police stations of Vehari district.
