NAWABSHAH, Dec 3: More than 80 girls of the Misri Khan Khoso village, Sakrand taluka, are unable to get education as no teacher has been appointed at the village primary school.
According to a survey, conducted by this correspondent, the school has remained closed for the last two years and despite several reminders to officials of the education department by villagers, no notice of the matter has been taken.
A boys primary school in the Saleh Khaskheli village has also been closed and its building is being used as guest house by a landlord of the area.
The area people have demanded Sindh Chief Secretary K.B. Rind should ensure the opening of the schools.
ROBBERY: Two bandits robbed a teacher of teaching staff’s salary, amounting to Rs91,000, at the National Bank, Nawabshah branch, on Monday.
As the teacher, Abu Bakar Burdi, left the cash counter, the bandits got hold of him and took away the money.
As the teacher raised a hue and cry, some people caught one of the bandits, identified as Rehmat Mangi.
However, the other bandit, identified as Shahnawaz Bhatti, escaped along with the money.
Police guards, deputed at the bank, offered no resistance.
Later, an FIR was registered with the ‘A’ section police station.
The area people demanded authorities concerned should take action and hold an inquiry into the matter.
PROTEST: More than 150 residents of the Haji Umer Sethar village blocked the Nawabshah-Daur-Kumb road on Monday to protest against the alleged excesses of the Pubjo police.
The road remained blocked for six hours.
Their representatives said a heavy contingent of the police raided the village at Sehri time on Monday and inquired about a man, Akbar Mallah.
They alleged the police beat up the villagers, including women and children. The police also set boundaries of their houses on fire after looting money.
