Sattar’s four-goal proves decisive

LAHORE, Nov 30: Four goals by Raja Sattar, including two crucial ones in final chukker, enabled Thuraya to win by a narrow margin defeating Musa Industries 7 1/2 -6 in the Ramazan Cup polo tournament at the Lahore Polo Club ground Saturday.

Thuraya with a half goal on handicap, lost the lead when Shah Shamyl Alam scored a field goal in the first chukker.

Displaying a high class game in the second chukker, Thuraya gained the lead by scoring three goals against one more scored by the losers making it 3 1/2 -2.

Sufi Amir, Sufi Haris and Raja scored a goal for Thuraya, while Shah Qublai Alam, who banged home three goals in the match, struck his first.

Thuraya maintained their slim lead in the third chukker despite Musa Industries scoring two goals and conceding one. Aurangzeb Monnoo and Qublai scored back-to-back goals for Musa while Raja struck his second goal to make the score 4 1/2-4.

In the fourth chukker, fortunes fluctuated but eventually Thuraya won the match. In the beginning, Thuraya extended their lead to 5 1/2-4 when Amir scored his second goal.

Musa retaliated and came ahead (6-5 1/2) by scoring two quick goals, one each by Qublai and Aurangzeb.

Here Raja came to rescue his team, scoring two goals in quick succession to seal the fate of the match.

Four goals each by Hissam Ali Hyder and Umar Sadik guided Guard Filter register a thumping 11-3 win over Rangers.

Kamran Nooruddin and Taimur Malik also scored two and a goal, respectively.

For Rangers Maj Talal Aftab scored a goal while two goals were on handicap.
