Andre bowls KGA into semifinal

KARACHI, Nov 30: Fine off-spin bowling by Andre Bernard and an equally impressive batting by Rajesh Ramesh, helped KGA Gymkhana reach the semifinals of the Seventh Danish Trophy brushing aside Wackenhut CC by 34 runs Saturday.

Having first use of the wicket, KGA riding high at 117 for one wicket in 11 overs slumped to 167 for nine in 20 overs. Rajesh Ramesh (56) and Nadeem Tariq (46) batted well.

Wackenhut were progressing steadily along at 82 for one wicket, but the introduction of Andre the rest of the batting crumbled and Wackenhut were dismissed for 133 in 19.4 overs.

Left-hander Sheryar Ghani (47) and Hanif Malik (32) batted well for the losers. Andre in a match winning performance picked up five wickets for 20 runs.

Tuesday fixture: KGA v Saddar Town CC (semifinal).

NAZIR, YASIR SHINE

Sound batting by Test star Imran Nazir (53) and Yasir Arafat (52), enabled A.O. Clinic reach the semifinals of the Dalpat R. Sonavaria Ramazan Trophy edging out Mohinder Kumar Academy by two runs.

Winning the toss and batting first, A.O. Clinic after a good start by Imran Nazir (53) and Yasir Arafat (52), were bowled out for 171 in their 20 stipulated overs. Nomanullah bowled well and was rewarded with five wickets for 27 runs.

A third wicket partnership of 78 runs between Suleman Huda (64) and Nomanullah (41), nearly carried Mohandir Kumar Academy into the last four. Shoaib Malik had figures of three fo 32, and was well supported by Abdul Rehman two for 22.
