JHANG, Nov 29: The government will bear all the expenses incurred during the investigation of cases or matters connected with the process of investigation and all the station house officers (SHOs) and in charges of investigation squads will, for the first time, be able to draw from the treasury the amount spent by them during the process of investigation.
This has been contained in an official circular dispatched by the Inspector General of Punjab police to all district police officers of the provinces.
According to the circular, the (SHOs) and (IOs) will be paid by the government for the amounts spent by them, during investigation, on the following heads:
Transportation of dead bodies to the mortuary for postmortem examination in suicidal, homicidal and accidental cases.
Preparation of site plan through a draftsman.
Dispatch of articles suspected to bear human blood stains, to the serologist.
Dispatch of weapons of offence and empties recovered from the place of occurrence to the ballistics expert for comparison.
Conducting of raids for the arrest of criminals, in case of non-availability of official transport.
Transportation of accused to courts and back for obtaining physical remand.
Transportation of accused for the recovery of weapons of offence and other articles connected with the commission of crime, at their instance.
Transportation of the accused for the recovery of stolen/robbed property, at their instance.
In cases of blind murder/unidentified dead body, arrangements for postmortem examination and burial.
Removal of injured to hospital, first aid and medical assistance.
Photographs of dead bodies, sites of accidents, and unlawful assemblies.
Video films of demonstrations and unlawful assemblies.
Setting observation on the telephone of the complainant.
To arrange identification parade of the accused and transportation of witnesses to jail and back to appear in trials of cases of sabotage and sectarian terrorism.
To arrange for the meals of suspects and criminals in custody.
Transfer of stolen or snatched vehicles from other provinces and district.
Shifting of suspected vehicles to forensic science laboratory for the examination of chassis/engine numbers.
Use of scientific aids on lifting of finger prints and foot moulds, comparison of hand writing and examination of documents.
Any other incidental charges with justification for its insurance.
Commenting on the circular, a retired police officer observed that now the complainants will not have to fulfil the demands of money made by the investigating officer, regarding the expenses on the investigation process and will help control corrupt practices in the police department.
