MIRPURKHAS, Nov 29: The Mirpurkhas District Council has demanded through a resolution to start relief work in the barrage areas affected by a drought-like situation.
The resolution was presented by Pir Taj Shah Jilani, Nazim, Union Council Pithoro, in a meeting held here on Thursday.
The meeting urged the administration to computerize the revenue records of the district and repair the old buildings of the revenue department.
ZAKAT DISTRIBUTED: A sum of Rs9,217,000 has been distributed among 9,139 Zakat Mustahqeen through 703 local Zakat committees under the Guzara allowance scheme during the first phase of financial year 2002-3.
Farman Ali Tanwari, district Zakat and Ushr officer, said that a sum of Rs4,559,500 has also been released as advance for Eid for 9,139 Mustahqeen.
He said that Rs1,296,000 had been given to the health department for medicines through health welfare committees.
CRIME RATE INCREASES: The DPO, Mirpurkhas, Dr Mohammad Amin Yousufzai, has admitted that the crime rate has increased as some more incidents of kidnapping for ransom have taken place in the district.
Speaking at a reception of the Mirpurkhas Chamber of Commerce and Industries on Thursday, he said that the police were making efforts to get kidnapped people released from the clutches of dacoits, and added that for this purpose, the cooperation of the public was required.
He said that the Madadgar force has been set up to take immediate action against the culprits.
