Drug pusher gets four-year RI

ISLAMABAD, Nov 28: A drug smuggler was awarded four years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs50,000 for smuggling case here on Thursday.

The I-9 Police had arrested Ghulam Naseer and seized 5 kilograms charas from his possession.

The additional district and sessions judge, Chaudhary Muhammad Yunas, convicting the drug pusher held that on default in paying the fine the convict would face additional three-month rigorous imprisonment.

By giving benefit of the section 382(b) to the convict, the court included the time he had spent in the lock-up in his sentence.

WOMAN DRUG PUSHER INDICTED: A woman, Ghulam Zuhra alias Rani, was charge-sheeted on Thursday in a drug smuggling case.

The accused was arrested by the I-9 police in Haq Bahu Colony and seized 1.20kg heroin from her possession.

The district and sessions judge, Chaudhry Asad Raza, charge-sheeted the woman and summoned the prosecution witness on January 14, 2003 to record his statement.

THIEF CONVICTED: A court awarded one year and three months imprisonment to a man in bufallo theft case.

The convict, Ameer Alam, was arrested by the Tarnol Police and the stolen bufallo was recovered from his possession.

He was presented in the court of judicial magistrate Rana Muhammad Khan, who awarded him sentence.

In another case Iftikhar and Nadir were awarded a fine of Rs500 each.

The Tarnol Police had arrested the accused and recovered illegal arms from them. The accused after paying their fine in the court were set free.
