Port workers go on strike

Published November 29, 2002

HUB, Nov 28: Temporary employees of the Gwadar Fish Harbour and Mini Port started their strike again on Wednesday and threatened to close the port from Nov 30, if their demands were not met.

The workers said they had called off the strike some 15 days ago when Federal Education Minister Zubaida Jalal assured that their demands, including the confirmation of jobs, would be met soon and a date was fixed for that purpose.

But, the strikers said, the date had passed and no decision had been taken on the issue, so there was no other option left.
