ISLAMABAD, Nov 28: Minister of Information and Media Development Sheikh Rashid Ahmed Thursday said the government had planned to enlarge the viewers’ choice for the electronic channels that would ultimately cultivate a healthy competition among the media organizations.

He said this while talking to a delegation of the Associated Press Television Network (APTN) at his office here. The APTN delegation was led by its chief executive Ian Ritchie.

The minister said the government believed in freedom of media and would encourage objective coverage of events by the local as well as the international media organizations.

The delegation discussed expanding the news gathering services in the region and sought the cooperation of the information ministry in establishing its facilities in the country. The minister assured cooperation to the delegation.— APP
