LAHORE, Nov 27: Newly elected speaker of the Punjab Assembly Muhammad Afzal Sahi says he will not discriminate between the opposition and treasury benches while discharging his duties and try to treat all members of the House equally.

Speaking to the house before announcing to prorogue it, the speaker said he would ensure that the rules of business were followed during the proceedings in the coming sessions of the assembly. He said he was answerable both to his God and members of the house and would try to discharge his duties honestly and impartially.

Deputy Speaker Shaukat Husain Mazari also urged the legislators to serve the people and democracy. He advised the members to act responsibly so that the democratic setup could function smoothly without any interruption.
