DADU, Nov 27: A large number of small growers of Johi Taluka held a demonstration outside the press club on Wednesday to protest against the artificial shortage of water in the Pahore, Chejani, and Chhinni waterways.

The protesters were led by Shafi Mohammad, Khair Mohammad, and Noor Mohammad.

Addressing the protesters, Shafi Mohammad said that the influential landlords in connivance with the irrigation officials had been tampering with the watercourses as a result of which the tail-ends had dried up.

The growers have appealed to President Pervez Musharraf for taking stern action against the irrigation officials and landlords concerned.
