LAHORE, Nov 25: All four provincial governors took a fresh oath of their offices under the 1973 Constitution on Monday.
In Lahore, Punjab Governor Khalid Maqbool was administered the oath by the Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court, Justice Iftikhar Hussain Chaudhry, at the Governor’s House, hours before the inaugural session of the Punjab Assembly.
In Karachi, Sindh Governor Mohammedmian Soomro was administered the oath by the Chief Justice of the Sindh High Court, Justice Syed Saeed Ashhad, at a simple ceremony held at the Governor’s House.
In Peshawar, NWFP Governor Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah was administered the oath by the Chief Justice of the Peshawar High Court, Justice Mian Shakirullah Jan, at the at Governor’s House.
In Quetta, Balochistan Governor Amirul Mulk Mengal was administered the oath by the Chief Justice of the Balochistan High Court, Raja Fayyaz Ahmed, at a simple ceremony held at the Governor’s House.
The ceremonies were attended by the respective cabinet members, military and civil officers and others.—APP
