ST JOHN’S (Antigua), Nov 25: Paceman Cameron Cuffy will replace the injured Mervyn Dillon in West Indies’ 15-man squad for their forthcoming tour of Bangladesh.
Dillon has not recovered from a torn muscle at the top of his leg suffered in his country’s defeat by India in a One-day International in Ahmedabad 10 days ago.
Michael Hall, chief operations officer of the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB), said on Monday: “A subsequent scan revealed that scar tissue from a similar injury suffered during the home series earlier this year had torn and it was decided to let him come home for sustained and concentrated rehabilitation.”
Dillon becomes the third player to miss the Bangladesh tour through injury.
Captain Carl Hooper will shortly undergo corrective surgery on his right knee in Australia, while all-rounder Ryan Hinds has already returned home after tearing knee ligaments.
West Indies will play two Tests against Bangladesh in December and three One-day Internationals. They won the one-dayers in India 4-3 but lost the Test series 2-0.
