KARACHI, Nov 25: Chief of the Jamaat-i-Islami (JI), Karachi, Dr Mairajul Huda Siddiqui, has condemned the attack and firing on the residence of an MNA of the Mutthida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) in Orangi Town on Sunday night.
Addressing a press conference at Idare Noor-i-Haq here on Monday, he told newsmen that some armed people had attacked the residence of Laiq Ahmed at 3am on Sunday night and opened indiscriminate fire to create panic in the area.
Dr Miraj said MNA Laiq Ahmed had noticed some suspicious movement around his residence a few days ago and the matter had been reported to the City government, but no precautionary measures were taken.
He said the MMA had pledged to get rid of all anti-social elements in the city and it would continue its struggle.
He said that certain elements were creating law and order problem in the city.
Dr Mairaj urged the government to immediately arrest the culprits and provide protection to the elected representatives of the people.
Those who also attended the press conference included Laiq Ahmed, MNA Abdul Sattar Afghani and Nasrullah Shajih, an MPA-elect.—APP
