KARACHI, Nov 25: The Karachi Building Control Authority has described a news item, which alleged that the KBCA chief exceeded powers in promotions of officers, as devoid of facts.
A spokesman for the KBCA in a statement said the news item did not contain true factual and legal positions about exercising of powers by the KBCA chief executive in connection with promotions of its officers.
He said that the government of Sindh, under a notification, had conferred powers of chief executive, KBCA, on Brig A.S. Nasir (retired).
The KBCA was established under section 4 of the Sindh Building Control Ordinance 1979 and is an independent statutory body. Section 4-A of the Ordinance is about appointment of officers and servants of the Authority, sub-section (1) of which provides that the Authority may appoint such officers, advisers, experts, consultants, and employees for efficient performance of its functions and on such terms and conditions as may be prescribed, the spokesman added.—APP
