Two European journalists held in Bangladesh
DHAKA, Nov 25: Two European television journalists have been charged with subversion after being arrested on Bangladesh’s western border, police said.
The two had been charged with “anti-state activities” after documents and films which were intended to tarnish the image of Bangladesh were seized, the police added.
The pair, who have been named as British national Zaiba Makhi and Italian Leo Tarantino, were being brought to the capital Dhaka.
The two were thought to be working for Britain’s Channel Four television channel.
In September, British journalist Simon Drink, who was an investor and managing director of the private Ekushey Television was expelled from Bangladesh by the government without explanation.—AFP
