LAHORE, Nov 24: Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) central leader Hafiz Husain Ahmad has said the religious parties alliance will not allow anyone destabilize the federal government.

Speaking at a press conference here on Sunday, he said the alliance would not also allow the PPP forward bloc and the MQM to blackmail the government and would extend unconditional support to it if any group tried to destabilize it.

Referring to corruption cases against various cabinet members, he said the cabinet and the prime minister belonged to the NAB group.

Claiming that forward bloc leader Faisal Saleh enjoyed full support of Benazir Bhutto, he said Ms Bhutto was tactfully utilizing all the Makhdooms in the party — Faisal Saleh, Amin Faheem and Shah Mahmood.

Answering a question, he said if Gen Pervez Musharraf would resign as the chief of army staff, the MMA would vote for him to ensure his success with two-third majority in the presidential elections.
