Two girls killed as school wall collapses

KOHAT, Nov 24: Two minor girls were killed and several other students were seriously injured when a wall of Bositang Alizai primary school suddenly collapsed on Saturday.

The students were busy in taking their classes when the old and dangerous mud wall suddenly fell on them. The injured students were immediately taken to the hospital where Naheeda Akhtar and Sheera Naz succumbed to their injuries.

The names of other injured students are Laila Akhtar, Basweerah Naz, Zameera Jan, Muntazra and Mamtala.

The school has been closed for an indefinite period and the residents have demanded an immediate inquiry into the incident and punishment for those responsible.

They said that they had informed the education and C&W department about the dangerous condition of the school several times but no action was taken.

OFFICIAL VERSION: The works, and the education departments have said that they had nothing to do with the school building as it was not constructed by them and the responsibility of its maintenance was on the local people.

The MPA-elect from the area Engineer Syed Hassan condoled the death of girls and said that somebody has to take the responsibility of the incident.
