Closure period of canals extended

SANGHAR, Nov 23: The irrigation authorities have extended the closure period of canals under the rotation system from seven days to 15 days due to the shortage of water in the Nara Canal.

More than two dozen small canals and distributaries had become dry on Saturday due to the rotation system in Jhol, Khadro, Sanghar, Bakhoro subdivisions.

The Dim Wah is closed for the last ten days and the Shahu Wah was closed on Wednesday.

The growers of the Dilshad Branch complained the branch had remained closed for more than two months.

This closure of canals will affect the wheat sowing which is in progress in the district.

SUICIDE: A young couple committed suicide on Friday night in deh-48 near Jam Nawaz Ali in the jurisdiction of the Naoabad police.

Paroo, 20, took a poisonous liquid as he had developed some differences with his father. His wife, Joogi, 18, also took a poisonous liquid when she came to know about his suicide.

Both were shifted to the Tando Adam Taluka Hospital where doctors pronounced them dead.
