HYDERABAD, Nov 23: There is an urgent need to establish an ultra-modern cardiac laboratory at the Liaquat University Hospital.

This was said by the vice chancellor of the Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences while speaking at a fund-raising function-cum-Iftar party on Friday.

Expressing grave concern over alarming increase in heart diseases, the vice chancellor said that patients had to be referred to Karachi for all kinds of invasive diagnostic procedures.

He said that a modern building had been constructed near Deewan Mushtaq Cardiac ward and only necessary equipment was needed to start cardiac and by-pass surgeries as well as angiography.

Speaking on the occasion, the chairman of the department of cardiology said that the necessary equipment would cost at least Rs50 million.

DATE EXTENDED: The University of Sindh on Saturday extended the date for receiving applications for convocation 2001 till Nov 30.

LUMHS: The controller of examinations, Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences Jamshoro, on Friday announced the results of the MS (General Surgery) basic medical science paper and DO (Diploma in Ophthalmology) examination held in October.
