KARACHI: Date for challan in kidnapping cases extended
KARACHI, Nov 23: Justice Shabbir Ahmed of Sindh High Court, who is also administrative judge of the anti-terrorism courts, on Saturday extended till Nov 28 for submitting final challan of four accused, Adeel, Noman, Sohail and Huma Bano, in the kidnapping case of 13-year-old Saeed.
According to the prosecution, the accused kidnapped Saeed on Oct 28 in the limits of Taimuria Police Station. His father, Raees Ahmed, lodged an FIR at the police station.
After two days, Saeed returned home and told the police about the place where he had been kept by the accused. The police raided the house and arrested Adeel, Noman, Sohail and Huma Bano.
Sohail is wanted in about two dozen cases of murder, including the killing of two sons of DSP Azizur Rehman.
ANOTHER CASE: Justice Shabbir Ahmed also extended till Nov 28 the date for the submission of final challan of five accused, including three police personnel, in a kidnapping case.
According to the prosecution, Mohammad Jaffer lodged an FIR at the Shah Faisal Police Station that four persons, including one in police uniform, barged into his house and locked his wife and children in a room and took two friends of his wife, Shazia and Saeeda, to another room.
They took their snaps in objectionable positions and later took them and two other men away in a vehicle. After a while they released the two men.
The complainant informed the police at ‘15’, who stopped the vehicle and recovered the women.
The accused were identified as ASI Shahzad Baig, police constables Mujahid Hussain and Javed, and Waseem Ansari, editor of a local fortnightly, Corruption Be-Neqab. The chief editor of the magazine, Ayaz Ghaznavi, is absconding.—PPI/APP
