11 killed as bus plunges into river in India

SHIMLA, Nov 23: Eleven people were killed and 23 injured when a bus plunged into a gorge in the Himalayan tribal district of Kinnaur in northern India, police said on Saturday.

Around 40 people were on board the private bus when the accident took place on Friday at Kinnaur, some 250 kms from Shimla, the capital of Himachal Pradesh state.

The accident is the fourth in recent weeks in which drivers have lost control and their vehicles and plunged into the Sutlej river gorge, police said.—AFP
