FAISALABAD, Nov 22: Another round of talks between the protesting teachers and the district government ended without any ‘agreement’ over the issue of formation of boards of governors.

The government was represented by district Nazim Zahid Nazir, district coordination office Tahir Husain, district officer (coordination) Wasim Ajmal, while Abdul Khaliq Nadeem, Ziaullah Randhawa and Jawed Aslam represented the Joint Action Committee.

The district Nazim requested the JAC team members to end their protest, but they refused to do so.

However, JAC members became infuriated and threatened to boycott the talks when the Nazim said that an action would be taken against the principal of the college where any untoward incident would take place during protest by teachers and students.

The Nazim suggested the leaders of protesting students, teachers and doctors to start parlays with the governor for resolving the issue. He claimed the governor had already assured him of holding talks in this regard at any time. Upon it, the JAC leaders said the matter would be forwarded to the central committee for a proper action.

The Nazim refused to comment on allegations by the JAC team that the district government under a planned move had got published a news in the press about an ‘agreement’ between both the parties. The DCO also denied the involvement of the district government in any such move.

Meanwhile, the students, teachers and doctors continued their protest on Friday against BoGs and held demonstration outside the Allied Hospital, the Government College, Samanabad, Islamia College and other educational institutions. They vowed to continue their movement till the acceptance of their demands.

SIALKOT: Students of the Government Murray College and the Government Boys Islamia College organized rallies from their colleges to Allama Iqbal Chowk in protest against denationalization of educational institutions and establishment of BoGs.
