KARACHI: Haqiqi man shot dead, five others wounded: 11 cars, 15 bikes hijacked

KARACHI, Nov 22: An activist of the Mohajir Qaumi Movement was shot dead outside his house in Landhi on Friday.

Police said that Arshad Mehmood Rajput, aged 28, was sitting outside his house in Landhi-2/B Area when two unidentified men, riding on motorcycles, appeared there and sprayed him with bullets and sped off.

He was rushed to Aga Khan Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.

The dead man had a shop at Babar Market, Landhi.

After the killing tension gripped the area and youths lit bonfire. Shopkeepers also pulled down their shutters.

An activist of the Mohajir Qaumi Movement, Abdul Latif alias Koti, was shot and injured in Khokhrapar, Malir. He has been admitted to Jinnah Post-graduate Medical Centre.

After the incident commercial activities in the area were suspended.

Four activists of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement were shot and wounded by unidentified men riding on motorcycles in Korangi No 1.

Police said four men were sitting outside the unit office of the Muttahida in Korangi No 1 when four armed men, riding on two motorcycles, opened fire on them and sped off. The four men were wounded.

Sources said Abdus Sattar and Shahid were activists of the party and the two others, Fahd and Talib, were party sympathizers.

The firing spread panic in the area and police were deployed to control the situation.

A policeman shot a young man to death in Saeedabad late Thursday night.

Police said Abdul Aziz, aged 28, resident of Gulshan-i-Ghazi, was called out of his house by Ghulam Husain. Aziz and Ghulam Husain had an argument with each other. Whereupon Ghulam Husain opened fire on Aziz and escaped.

Aziz was rushed to Civil Hospital where he died.

Police said Ghulam Husain is a police official and he has not been reporting for duty. Aziz’s brother Anwer lodged an FIR in which he named Ghulam Husain as the killer of his brother.

CARJACKING: Twenty-six vehicles — 11 cars and 15 motorcycles — were either hijacked or stolen in the city on Friday, police said.

Five cars were hijacked in Artillery Maidan, Ferozabad, Gizri and Gulberg. Six others were stolen in different parts of the city, including Mubina Town, Korangi, North Nazimabad, and New Town.

Eight motorcycles were hijacked in Preedy, Gizri, Ferozabad, SITE, North Nazimabad, Mubina Town, Sir Syed Town, and Cantt railway police limits. Seven others were stolen in Gulbahar, Aziz Bhatti, Liaquatabad, New Karachi, SITE, Samnabad, and Gulberg.

Police also claimed on Friday to have recovered one car and three motorcycles in the city.

ROAD ACCIDENTS: A young man died and 14 others were injured in separate road accidents in the city on Friday.

Police said an unidentified pedestrian was run over by a speeding vehicle in Steel Town. He died on the spot.

The body was sent to the JPMC. After post-mortem it was shifted to the Edhi’s morgue where it has been kept for identification.

The vehicle sped off after the accident.

Fourteen passenger were injured when two buses collided with each other on M. A. Jinnah Road near Capri Cinema. Police said buses of routes 4-K and 20 collided with each other. The injured were rushed to Civil Hospital.
