Children make human chain

By Our Reporter

RAWALPINDI, Nov 20: More than 100 school children on Wednesday made a human chain on the Murree Road demanding of the government to ensure a better future for the children who are living under the vicious circle of poverty.

The demonstration was organized by the Progressive Women Association (PWA) in connection with the international children’s day. The children made the human chain near the PWA’s Asra Centre and remained at the side of the Murree Road for about an hour.

The children, holding each other’s hands, held placards inscribed with slogans asking the government to ensure them the provision of basic rights like health facilities, education, food, clean drinking water and safe and peaceful environment.

Prior to the demonstration, a girl student, Sumbal, delivered a speech. She said: “Children are the future of the nation and through excellent education system, they should be moulded into architects of the destiny of a nation.”

She also urged her fellow children to dedicate themselves to their studies as they had to run the country in the future.
