Teachers continue boycott of classes

Published November 21, 2002

RAWALPINDI, Nov 20: The teachers boycott of one class daily against the proposed educational reforms continues as usual in all schools and colleges of Punjab.

The boycott is being observed on the call of the Punjab Professors and Lecturers Association, which is determined to continue the fight till withdrawal of the BoG idea by the government.

In this regard, the local union leaders visited various schools and colleges as a token of unanimity on the issue and criticised the government for not heeding to their grievances. “We are in the second month of our protest, but so far there is no response from the government. We have been compelled by the government to boycott the classes.” The teachers and the professors vowed to fight to the finish. The students were equally committed to continuing the protest till the government withdrew the proposed BoG idea.
