KARACHI, Nov 20: The Sindh High Court asked the Karachi Electric Supply Corporation on Wednesday to file its reply to a Rs16.17 million suit for compensation filed by the heirs and dependants of a 23-year-old man who died of electrocution
Plaintiff Zubaida Bibi submitted, through Advocate Nasir Maqsood, that her husband, Saifur Rehman, was entangled in snapped live wires loosely hanging from an electricity pole and submerged in rainwater on July 22. The KESC was earlier apprised of the danger posed by the dangling wires, but no steps were taken to remove them or cut off power supply to render them harmless. No measures were taken to save Saifur Rehman, though the Corporation was informed of the accident well in time. His neighbours and passersby somehow disentangled him and took him to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
