By Our Correspondent

NAWABSHAH, Nov 19: A group of employees of the district health department staged a sit-in outside the press club here on Tuesday to protest against the non-payment of their five-month salary.

The protesters included women health workers, watchmen, compounders, dispensers, junior clerks and technicians.

Their representatives, Shakeela, Fauzia, Rehmat and others, said they had met DCO Abdul Qadir Mangi and informed him about the matter.

More than 25 employees of the district health department have not been paid their salary for the last five months.

TENSION: Following an exchange of fire that took place between Zardari and Junejo tribesmen on Monday over a dispute of land, tension prevailed in Akro deh, some 70km off here.

Khameeso Khan Junejo registered an FIR stating that Allahdad alias Porho Zardari, Riaz Zardari, Nazim of a union council, Jam Saheb, Alam Zardari, Yar Muhammad alias Yaru, Jumo Zardari, Ilyas Zardari, Rahmatullah Brohi, Habibullah Sher, Ghulam Mustafa Magsi and 35 others had barged into their houses.

He said the accused had manhandled women and children and looted gold ornaments and other valuables.
