KARACHI, Nov 19: A delegation of the Sindh Professors and Lecturers’ Association, Karachi, called on City Nazim Naimatullah Khan to apprise him of the alleged irregularities observed in admission process at a government college.
According to a SPLA press release, the delegation, headed by Mirza Athar Hussain, informed the Nazim that about 180 admissions to first-year classes at the Government Degree College, Stadium Road, were made in violation of the merit criteria prescribed in the Centralized Admission Policy of the government.
They alleged that some officials of the city government’s education department had pressed the college administration in regard to illegal admissions. The college teachers demanded of the Nazim to declare the “illegal” admissions null and void and order action against the officials.
The Nazim, according to the press release, assured the delegation that the supremacy of merit would be upheld in all cases. He asked the EDO (education) to look into the matter and submit an enquiry report to him.
