KARACHI, Nov 19: Secretary Health Sindh, Amir Ali Burq, on Tuesday visited the under-construction projects taken up at the Civil Hospital Karachi under the public-private partnership scheme.

These include the department of emergency obstetric and gynaecology, the school of midwifery and the latest emergency gynaecology centre.

Dr Yasmin, in charge of the department of emergency obstetric and gynaecology, informed that the project would be completed at a cost of about Rs14 million.

She said the cost was being borne by the Dowites 1977— old students of Dow Medical College Karachi of the batch 1977. For the provision of the equipment a request has been made to the Civil Hospital administration.

The health secretary also visited the modern emergency operation theatre also being constructed by the Dowites 1977. Dr Tipu Sultan and Dr Saeeda informed on the occasion that the project would cost Rs9 million.

The health secretary said he had been very much impressed by the public-private partnership projects and they were badly needed.

Burq lauded the efforts of the doctors and said that such projects would not only be benefit the people but would also enhance the status of the profession. Later, the health secretary visited the under-construction burns centre.—APP
